Warm market = People you know, but don’t talk with often (e.g. primary school friends, ex colleagues, etc.)
Never ever start with, “Hey, how are you?”. That’s the worst opener ever.
4 ways to reconnect with them as your opener
- Invite them for an event. (Class gathering, Networking event, seminar etc.)
- Either they accept the invitation or not.
- If they do accept the invitation, you can reconnect with them at the event itself
- Even if they don’t accept the invitation, at least you started a new conversation. This is a very good chance to build rapport.
“Oh no worries, join us for the next event then!
Anyway, how have you been! I heard you recently went to Europe?”
- Comment on their social media posts. (Facebook post, instagram story, Snapchat story etc.)
- Once they reply to your comment, you can private message them.
- Hey ___, coffee soon?
- Hey ___, have you heard about the recent news about (e.g. US - China Trade agreement)?
